I HATE chocolate energy bars. Then again, I am the type of person that buys 15 dollars choclate bars and scoffs at lower quality stuff. Those energy bars are pretty low quality chocolate. :D

If you are ever concerned and have the time, pump it to pressure and then wait 30 minutes to an hour. Then check the pressure again. If you cant tell any difference you should be pretty good to go. If the tire flattens over the course of 2-3 days then it likely has a very small leak in it. The positive side of that is it shouldnt really effect your rides, just the pre ride pumping everything up.

I have a Joe Blow Sport II as well. Ill post some pictures here shortly after I figure out what the weather is doing today.

I'm not big into chocolate, the misses claims that department, but the macadamium nut was pretty good. My preference though is the oatmeal. Damn good!

Yeah, I had let it sit about 15-20 minutes before my ride began, and they seemed fine. I'll just have to monitor it over the next few rides.

I am always having to put air in my bike tires. Talked to the bike shop owner and he said that it was normal for bike tires to go soft in a week. Road bike tires don't hold much air, so even losing 10-15% capacity would make a big difference in pressure.

Yep. Its from how air compresses. A small percent of air lost will be a dramatic change in pressure. The higher the pressure the tire, the greater the change will be from the same percentage lost. Normally tires will lose air and pressure, but they shouldnt flatten out with in a week. You should only need to top off the pressure most of the time. If you do get a really flat tire after a week, you have a small sized leak, which 'shouldnt' be normal ;)

Completely flat in a week is too much. But soft in a week or so is normal. If it's been 3 or 4 weeks since the tires were last checked, then I would not be surprised to see them flat. It's not as though the inner tubes are very thick.

You can do a quick check just using either a container of water and immersing the bottom of the wheel/tire and spinning slowly checking for bubbles or slowly running water from a hose over parts of the wheel/tire. Going flat over a week would be bothersome to me:)!

Here is what they have in London you can rent the bikes unless you return it in 30 min then it is free. They have these stations all over the city

They have the same system in south beach Miami called Deco Bikes. It's also coming to new York.

You could also fully inflate the tube outside the tire. Expands to around 6 ft and you can hear or feel small air leaks.

I like to remove the tube and fillet it down the center. That way I can spread it out and look for any debris or punctures.

^+1 There is that. Or another method we use for pressure testing pipes in power stations (the smaller ones), is to get dish soap + water into a spray bottle and spray it on the tubes - just in the same way as the inner tube of your tyre. If you start to see it bubble up at any point, there is your leak...

Hey gang, I just got in from my latest "jaunt"!

But, before I process and post pics, it occurs to me that I should let you all know about something!

Yesterday I noticed that I had begun to accumulate a veritable bunch of Biking Photog shoots in my PBase gallery and they were just sort of being stuffed in a couple generic places for lack of a better "category".

So, I decided to start a gallery for all my biking shoots -- it's The Biking Photog Gallery (external link) -- check it out!

Good bike tires have a reasonably constant air chamber size. The coord in the tire is there to reduce the amount of expansion of the air chamber. So twice as much air means twice as many atoms hitting the sides of the tire and hence twice as much pressure, assuming a constant temperature. 5% more air means 5% more pressure.

It's this linearity between pressure and amount of air that makes a manometer able to measure the amount of air in a container.

I have a problem with those bikes. I'm sort of a germaphobe and just putting my hands on the grips would make me pull out the hand sanitizer.:lol:

Hey all, I know it's very late for most of you, but I just finished processing my pics and uploading them to PBase, so now it's your turn:)!

I had a simple thing to do today -- pick up a couple things from a supermarket, of which there are three of various distances that had exactly what I needed, including one at about a five-minute bike ride if that.

So which one did I pick to go to? Why the farthest one of course! It would give me more time on the bike as well as more potential photo ops so it was a natural!

Now, biking with a camera and a purpose to be a Biking Photog has a neat thing in common with walking with a camera -- it's easy to spot something and then pull over and stop!

So as I went the first things I noticed were some fresh blooms amongst wilting summer growth:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/135919531/original.jpg

Then across the street I saw flags flying! It took a moment for the realization to penetrate my thick skull that we were close to the Fourth of July!:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/135919860/original.jpg

I then passed more purdy flowers!:

Another market, another bike rack:

More in a bit!

^Nice shots from your ride today Tony. I like how you parked your bike next to price board.
