300 bucks? Rent a decent easy-to-learn video camera for cheap, pocket the rest of the money.

They're actually the ones making the purchase. I also want a dedicated video camera for when I want to record longer than 12 minutes at a time, so it works out well for me, in the end. I'm eyeing some of the older Vixia cameras right now, including a nice deal on an HF10 I stumbled across.

One of my favorite little handheld cameras is the Sony CX 110. Best low light sensor you can find in the sub $300 category. Its last years model, so you wont find them at your local best buy, but I'm sure you can find some great deals online.

From the outside looking in, you can’t understand it. From the inside looking out, you can’t explain it.

+1 on a used or leftover-clearance-deal Vixia.

To update, a used Vixia HF10 has been secured for $210+shipping. It comes with a canon wide angle lens and a spare battery. I'm planning on acquiring at last one more SDHC card. Anything else I might be desiring with it that won't cost a lot? Don't say a tripod, cause those are expensive and I own one.
