I am thinking of entering one of these in a club competition. Which one is the better do you think?

I think the first one has the best composition.

Thanks. What about a little cropped of the bottom of No 1?

Agree with Roy - and you might want to add some local contrast to make it pop a bit - looks flat to me.
Pitch the 3rd one as something drastic went wrong in processing with the sky and cliff edges.

Spike - is this better.

What did you mean about the sky and cliff edges in No 3? I haven't done anything to either.

I gotta vote for #2. #1 is compelling, but the edges of the branches block the lines of the mesa walls. If you could see that walls cleanly it would have been stunning.

closer but for me the branches would need to be totally inside the mesa walls for it to work.

Yes - the edit is better. I assume you also sharpened it a bit....hard to tell or do with a high compression image posted.
The bad sky in #3 is caused by the extreme compression you are using.

Surely I have no control over the compression. It has to be done to fit in with forum posting rules - or am I missing something?
