Well finally managed to get a semi-decent dragon in flights with the G, this is not easy and so outside the cameras comfort zone...

This is what I get from the DSLR - same Hawker on the same day

IMAGE: http://www.jfbclick.com/images/11-LeicaBugs/DIF/_JFB3054.jpg

In a PM someone asked what the main difference was between the G and the DSLR systems... These show the main differences - so Typical, small sensor, G shots...

More traditional DSLR type shot, really nice out of focus area which can isolate your subject, same flash kit is used on both set-ups

Plus another dragon in flight, this is a smaller darter, makes it very hard to keep the subject in the viewfinder, DSLR shot with 180mm lens, plus 1.4x converter on a 1DMkIII body with manual focus working at a couple of feet.

So that is why I still work and actively use both systems, they are very different but complement each other very well...

Very nice John. So far all my dragon in flight attempts have just been a blurry mess. It's challenging to say the least, but still fun to try.

I know, I know....but here's another Mantis shot. I just like it's beady little eyes in this one.

Preying mantis along with stick bugs are my favorite non-winged insects... if that is a category. Nice shots, Idsurfer.

Thanks Kim. These insects are quite intriguing. The more I shoot insects this year the more I realize that all have their own little personalities. This one really wasn't into the photo shoot. The dragons seem to be willing players if they are not involved with other things (if they have the time).

It's in the eyes!
