What was your lighting set up for that cake shot?

Single 580ex II bounced off ceiling in ETTL (pretty sure at -1 but could had been at 0) with no diffuser and I went f2.8 ISO 2500 1/20 at 24mm to capture ambient.

Not bad! Would have enjoyed seeing #5 shot w/o tilt shift (little over-used IMO), #7 could use some fill light, a little dark for me, also background is a little distracting in #8. I'm sure they are thrilled with these though, good set.

These are great! I do feel the tilt shift was slightly used more than I like but I do see where your vision is coming from. Amazing photos, please share more with us!

I use a {3+2}D Mark [10-8] and a (23-16)D and a Nikon D(75+75)x2s and a Nikon D(38+2)x

Chris,

Not sure if you are looking for C&C, but I know you can handle it. My thoughts on the wedding.

1. Nice ring shot. I dont know if i would start the set off with it, but that is a minor thing.

2. I would have put the left shoe on top. It is easier to read the "Guess" when it is going downhill so to speak, rather than backwards.

3. Cool shot, good use of TS

4. Same as 3.

5. Not my favorite ts shot. I think the pose could be stronger though. Her arm is fairly straight on to the camera, and I would have liked them to be touching a bit more.

6. Nice cake shot, but it looks like their is a waiter on the far right?

7. Nice shot. I like doing this with a little more ambient, but I think that is more a stylistic thing.

8. Again, not where I would put it in the set, but I think this is one that could be improved a lot. Id shoot it from a little lower angle (camera level with their hands). Bring them out from the background more and use wither your 24L or if you had room the 70-200 wide open to get some separation. The dof goes for miles, and its just not really my style.

Nice job Chris. Just a few nitpicks.

The dof is intense in some of these. Is some of that photoshopped? Looks a little strange in some, for example #3 and #4 dof all the across the bottom and top but none on the sides on the images, works well for those though!

I don't care for the DOF / your PP the only two that i like are 6 & 7, 1-5 dof/ your pp to distracting and 8 i don't care for headless bodies.

I agree on 5, that is prob my weakest one, I do have a non T/S with it and I am debating going with that one.

#2 Very good call on that on that on.

#5 Very good call on the closeness of them, I have to dig, I know I took a few of this shot.

#6 Yup, ran out of crop room, I used the exposure brush on him a little. If I bumped more, it looked out of place.

#8 I couldnt back up anymore (wall behind me) but alas I sold my 35L to fund my 24 T/S. I am very happy I did but this is one of those times I wish I still had it.

The DOF is not from post, its from using my 24L Tilt Shift lens and technically speaking, using it the complete wrong way.

For DOF, see above. For Post, can you give an example? Is it personal preference or something technical?

To all the compliments, THANK YOU!

I like a lot of the tilt shift shots. It does seem that the tilt shift is used in a lot of them, even in those on the blog. If that is something the client really likes, then awesome. I do the same thing with fisheye shots a lot. They are eye catching, but I end up using them like a crutch. I often wonder if the shot would hold value without the effect of the lens.

I like the ring shot a lot.
