Lousy light, but when it comes to this creature, I'll take what I can get.

Congrats on the find and capture Mike... the images look excellent! A sought after bird to view and photograph to be sure... happy you found him.

Above all else, get the shot! These guys aren't known to be caught out in good light much. Great capture. The second photo gets my vote. Very nice!

Amazing how well the feathers blend in with the tree. Love the second one. The AYES have it.

Have plenty of Canons, enough ammo, enough to blow 'em to "L". Now, I just have to learn to aim.

Thanks all, for the comments.

Al, this bugger was captured in the Sax Zim Bog near Meadowlands.

Ron, I believe this was his response when I whistled at him. I just wanted a different view.

Nice find and images.

This pic was taken just Sunday late afternoon. I had received a tip just a few days before I got to this part of the state. I was forced to go to a wedding about 45 miles south of the bog so the following afternoon I called my informant and although he had seen one pretty much every day along a particular road, he had failed to find it the last couple evenings. He was afraid they had moved back north after the little ones fledged. I figured since I was this close, I may as well head up there and have a looksee. I did not find one along the road where I was hoping to, so I drove a few more back roads and saw this large bird flying into the trees. I quickly pulled over and watched it land in a tree. The sun was quite bright from the side of him, and none of the first pics turned out that well. Luckily, he flew off and onto another tree, that was totally shaded, and that is where I got my best shots. About a half hour later, we saw another one fly into the woods. This was a couple miles away so I assume it was a different owl. However, this one wanted no part of me and the Canon. He flew deep into the trees and disappeared.
