Canon made some top notch glass before the digital take over, let's hear it for some of those lenses. 100-300 L f5.6, 28-105 f3.5-4.5 macro 7-blade, 28-70 3.5-4.5 kit that came with the EOS 650. I know there are people here shooting with them.

I love my L lenses but I've always wanted to put some of the film glass on my 5d just to see the results. I went from bottom of the barrel kit glass straight into pro-grade L glass and I missed out on a ton of good lenses.

Those lenses work very well on a 5D. If you don't still have yours, there are plenty on Craigslist if you want some lower end lenses.

I'm not parting with my L glass anytime soon I've just always been intrigued by older Canon film lenses for some reason.

Never used any of them but zooms back then weren't very good.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

1990's EF 70-210mm f3.5-4.5 USM is the best Canon telephoto zoom this side of the 70-200Ls.

1987's EF 50mm f1.8 Mark I was one of the first lenses in the system and puts the current Mark II to shame.

The 50mm f1.0L dates from 1989.

Quite a few current lenses still date from the pre-digital 90's, for example: 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8, 100mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8. The 50mm f1.4's optical design actually goes back over 40 years.

The 28-105mm 3.5-4.5 is a pretty nice lens. Fast focusing and really compact!

6D, 5D, 7Dii, Eos R and too many lenses, flashes and aux. gear to list!
