Need speedlight help :(

I'm totally stumped.

Situation -

50D with 24-105mm lens attached and 580EXII speedlight in TV mode the 50D fires at 1/100 sec

Put 24-105mm lens on 5DMKII and attach 580EXII speedlight, put camera in TV mode and camera wants to fire at 4 seconds.

What am I/have I done wrong?????

I'm not sure I understand the problem. In Tv mode, you set the shutter speed. Are you saying you set it for a certain SS and the camera is changing it to something else?

Ahhhhh it was a setting buried away that somehow I must have enabled

What is the aperture and ISO set to on both cameras?

Exposure Safety Switch was set to Enabled.

Good to know if I end up getting a 5Dm2. I had to look it up, but it's Exposure Safety Shift.

I stand corrected.

I just went through both menus till I found one that was different from the other.
Not sure how I would have found it otherwise. I'm sure I wouldn't have any hair left!

Safety shift is a good thing. There will be situations where it will save your shot. Mine is always on.

Tv mode is telling the camera to adjust the aperture (and with safety shift it will adjust shutter speed if necessary) in order to properly expose the ambient light.

If that's not what you want the camera to do, don't use Tv mode (or Av mode either).
