I made a big jump and need some help. Got a good deal on a package of CS5 and Lightroom 3, and need some instruction. Hear good things about Photoshopuser and Lynda.com for training. Anybody tried both? Which one should I try? Thanks

If you register PSCS5, you can get a 30 day free trial at Lynda.com
Highly recommended.

Lynda is good; definitely give the free trial a shot.

I'm almost done with the LR3 tutorials, and then will move on to the CS5 tutorials. They're pretty extensive, and the trainer (Chris Orwig) is very skilled. The only downside is that some of the tutorials are kinda slow-moving; he sometimes takes 5 minutes to explain something that I could have understood with a 2-minute tutorial. I guess that's good for people who aren't quick with computers, or don't find some of the controls to be intuitive.

Lynda also has training on lots of other computer material, such as video editing, Excel, etc etc.

And Planet Photoshop has some pretty good tutorials. Though more for the graphics artist/designer you can learn a lot from them.

Have they fixed the bug, if you re-register your PS they give you another 30 days free? :D

Kelby Training is OK, mainly Photoshop and its derivatives, and photography related. I do a monthly subscription, then load up with as much training over a month or two and then stop the subscription. Then when they add a load of training videos I haven't seen I restart the subscription for another month or two. They also have a good iPhone/iPad app.

I think they did.
Registered PSCS4 after a clean install on my MacPro. Did not get an offer ;)

Thanks for all the suggestions, a lot to check on! Adobe TV looks good and I am going to sign up for the free trial of Lynda.com. Just made a leap from a PC tower to a 27" IMac and from Elements 7 to CS5 and Lightroom 3. Love the iMac but struggling with the new software so thanks for all the suggestions.

No option for a matte screen available - glossy only. I'm not finding it an issue as I thought I would. I have edited photos on both my iMac and on my husband's MBP with a Dell U2410 matte screen and I have no preference at this point.

There are lots of free resources online which will help you learn. To answer your question I would go with Lynda.com. It has a wide choice of courses and in my opinion it has one of the best instructions in Deke McClelland. The course that he gives called one-on-one is very good and comprehensive.

Don't confuse photoshopuser.com with Kelby Training. Photoshopuser.com is the website for NAPP and they do offer some nice tutorials but they don't have any full courses there in the price of the NAPP membership. Kelbytraining.com is another cost although it can be had for a discount if you are a member of NAPP.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.
