Seeing things you do not normally see, is one of the many cool things about photo
sharing. Since I joined POTN, (seems like yesterday), I have seen high quality photos
of lots of things. I have been inspired by what I see and by the C&C, to do better with
my photos.

These pictures were a few months old, but in the last few weekends, I have really be
trying to use what I have seen and learned here at POTN. I think I am doing better
with my photos, and I am having a good time.

I wonder how much power the engine in the first picture puts out?

I think my favorite is #3...I kind of have a soft spot for massive V8s with twin turbos...and carbon fiber intake plenums...:o

Ah, I was sarcastic with the statement of the first pic, as it says "1000HP" on the air cleaner cover :P but I do enjoy those stats on the engines! I'd imagine those things would have to be built a lot tougher than most equivalent engines used in cars as they run at higher loads for longer periods of time.

Now that I go back and read your post, of course! I guess I did not see the
reference to picture 1, my bad.

Yes, unlike a car, that can coast/roll, a boat engine is constantly under load. As
an example I my personal boat 4000rpm = 67mph, 5000rpm = 83mph, and mine
go to 6300rpm.

Extremely strong components are used, as the HP goes up, but stuff still breaks.

As an example, today we were on my personal boat, 4000-5000rmp 90% of the time.

FYI: in my last offshore race boat, 374cid, 14:1 C/R, 700+hp, 112 octane, ran 7500rpm
