Hellooo!

After quite literally "some" deliberation, I've decided that this is perhaps the most appropriate sub-section for these, but I'm prepared to be over-ruled ... by someone with moderation privileges.

A friend of mine has saved up all his pennies and pounds, and bought himself a small plane. Today I went for a spot of flying ...

Somewhere between the bales, is the landing strip he uses:

And this is (not the entire of, mainly just the engine from) his plane ... this will be about as "Transportation section" as it gets:

And from inside, with quite a lot of view:

This may be a tiny bit "Transportation" section too ...

But these aren't ... this is Westbury, denoted by its White Horse:

The Mendip Hills ... another friend of mine lives just along this road:

One of the many quarries we flew over. I didn't photograph them all because I was starting to feel like Ed Burtynsky:

Another Mendip view, with a wind turbine, and a distant Chew Valley Lake ...

All forms of C are appreciated, and feel free to move it if my positioning offends you/tell me that it offends you if you're offended by it but unable to move it ... not that I am then able to move it, but hopefully someone who can will notice that it has offended you ...

Yours, slightly wishing that P stood for Pilot instead of Photographer,

Owain.

Nothing is offensive. I really like the first, second andlast shot. The control panel shot feel crooked because of the angle it was shot at.
Nice set... makes me want to on a photo ride in a little sesna..

I dont shoot with a Canon, I just really like it here :)
Nikon D90, Nikon D7000.. 18-105 kit lens, Nikon 35mm prime lens, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, Nikon 105mm macro/prime speedlight 600, 5-in-one reflector.... PSE9 editing software

Offensive was probably too strong a word ... although it seems my vignetting was also a bit strong - for whatever reason, I can't bring myself to take it off after all these years.

It's maybe about as level as I could get from one side of a two-seater plane ... that and they move around a lot, being so light and easily affected. For the wide-angle interior shot, we are actually banked over a bit ...

It was an amazing experience, I loved it! Really keen to go again, especially because I should then get to take the controls for a bit ...

Owain...these are mostly too small a resolution to see/appreciate.
When shooting from the air, small rez photos just don't show much in the way of detail, for one thing.
For another nit, the vignetting does nothing to enhance these photos.
And lastly, though they are contrasty they lack color. I've shot many photos from the air and when at low altitudes such as you were at, the earth/ground/land shows a bit more color than that when the sun is lighting the landscapes up, as I've seen from up above

Other than that, nice work :)

Some of the colour could be because I desaturate by 25, that along with the contrast and vignette (increasingly the subject of discussion) being how I like my photographs to look - I've tried other styles recently and this one is the one I come back to, but I was definitely struggling to get the greens to come up, in these and especially in some others ... is there anything you can do to help with this? (Other than not desaturating, obviously.)

Resolution is another thing I've been considering changing, but these images also feed into my website which is working with 600px on the longest side - which is quite useful because these only just display full screen on a lot of current widescreen laptops ... but I can definitely see why they're perhaps a bit small for something like this where you want to see the detail as well as the vista, because that's a large part of the intrigue to aerial landscapes.

With both of those, it's about appropriacy and perhaps my regular choices aren't always, and in this case, appropriate ...
