I've noticed that PayPal is the most common payment methods being used on POTN.

As an online community, I think, we should encourage the use of alternative payment methods to avoid these monopolistic fees that PayPal charges

Yeah, I am starting to consider Postal MO's as payment.
They are only $1.25 and take 3-5 days to get to who you need it to.

btw, what is Amazon payments? Thats the first I have heard about that.

Holy heck thats awesome!

Being that its Amazon maybe it will grow large enough, soon enough to be a major thorn in PayPals side.

I can only assume the hundreds of thousands that Paypal has made from members of this forum alone, I know several thousand from me alone. x_x

Your hope here is that people will continue to do business with you when they see you only take checks/MOs :D

I've had no problem with the last two expensive items I've sold. I don't put myself in the position of having to sell anything.

Generally speaking though, anytime I see sellers that say "no paypal, MO/check only", that sends up a giant red flag, and I ignore that deal no matter how good. I'm sure a lot of people think the same way, regardless of Feedback or history. In my mind, it makes more sense to at least leave the possibility of PP Regular as an option--if they want to pay the additional 3%, why not allow it? Why tie one arm behind your back in a fight? That's what I'm not understanding--are you simply taking a stand against PP entirely?

The reasons are all over this forum, I see no need to repeat them. Feel free to ignore my FS posts.

I thought we were simply having a rational conversation--I don't see what you're upset over, assuming that's the case. For your information, I have purchased from you in the past. If you don't want my future business and support in these forums, I can easily grant your wish--I'll just place you on my ignore list. I say good day sir! :p

I've posted the various reasons ad nauseum here - the instant gratification types, reverse scammers, fees, etc. Now they want to charge their fee on transactions that don't cost them anything just like they've done all along with existing funds. They've trained people to insist on it and I'm no longer playing the game.

That being said, after three years of trial and error I don't see offering anything in the near future that's worth more than a few hundred dollars so it's a moot point. Perhaps one of the other services can gain some popularity in that time, one that is free for existing funds and ACH transfers and for credit cards the option to accept them or not.
