Another quick and dirty editorial set. Nothing amazing, but for the amount of time spent shooting I think these came out decent and have a nice mood. Any input appreciated... A couple extras on my flickr (external link)

Great job! They seem HDR, but it is a little hard to tell. Are they?

Also love the clean engine bay soooo much!

how much room is left in that engine bay!

You could almost fit another civic in there!

Awesome shots, love the lighting.

Just wondering, how do you clear the license plate? I was trying to figure it out for some of my car shots but I ended up going into MS Paint to do it. I usually use LR3, but overall, nice shots!

They are multiple brackets but they are not ran through any automated software, they are all masked together by hand and adjusted.

Thanks, the Flying Lizard stuff is a whole different level than editorial work though. Hopefully I'll be doing more of that type of work soon :)

It depends on what kind of plate it is and how detailed the background is (i.e. some states/ special plates have really detailed pictures behind the lettering). For a standard issue California plate I'll usually sample a small area of the plate w/out lettering and start cloning then smooth out the texture afterwards. For more intricate plates I'll draw the backgrounds in by hand using the brush tool with different layers for different colors.

Don't lean into the engine bay, you might smash your face on the pavement

Awesome work, man.
