Look in the lens archive sample images in this forum (the link is at the top of the page in the lens section. You can find many samples of all of the above mentioned lenses, plus dicussions on them.

with a crop camera and sensor, everything seems to be odd. I rather have this lens on a full frame camera to have a better picture. My 2 cents.

I don't have the money for a full body and the t3i has potential to make excellent pics when you know how to use it.

Go for Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 non-VC if you are tight in budget or if you got some small cash, get a Sigma 17-50mm OS and if you really don't care about $$$, go for a Canon 17-55mm 2.8.

Xavier, did you even read the original post? OP was asking for "thier opinions for a holdable/tripod wildlife/bird lens for my camera".

Never noticed it there, thanks. i like the sigmonster, but 8 grand wont find its way to me prolly ever. Ido really like the 100-400l more now that i have seen more pics. doing the math with my cropped sensor 400x1.6=640 640 with a 2x tube will get me 1280? hell yeah!!!!!

The OP asks specifically about the 100-400L or something similar...

I really like the 100-400mml but then stumbled into the is problem thread...
...Does sigma offer something else that would be better for me?

How is suggesting

even close to being similar?

Totally irrelevant post which is not even close to being either useful or helpful - to anybody.

Apart from both being lenses, I'd be curious to know how the 17-50/17-55 are similar to the 100-400.
