You should turn your image editing on. your gonna need photoshop for masking and selective color replacing.

This is real quick, and would need some more work to make it right. Using replace color in photoshop, selecting the purplish hue of the flair and taking it to a more brown, then masking out where you don't want the color change. Light burn tool around the girls face and neck as well. You could pretty much rinse-repeat the process a few times - sampling from different areas of the image to bring it home.

You probably think I'm nuts. I look at this thread on my computer at work, away from my good monitor and it doesn't even look like I did anything to the image.

Here it's quite visible ;)

I'd probably use a (masked) hue/sat adjustment layer to get the color of the dress more "even" in the flare spot.

It is going to be pretty hard to get rid of that in a hue/saturation adjustment layer. I tried and couldn't get it so it wouldn't stand out. It is crappy working on a low res like this but I would do something similar to the attached. There are plenty of things still wrong with this one like I missed masked off some of the feathered changes on the side of her face. I'm simply showing the basics of what I would do with the full sized version.

I know, but I was referring to the changed color of the dress.

If it were my image, I'd probably just restore the color of the dree and leave the flare. I like it ;)

But, if you want to get rid of it, that will take some more work. My take: (the "contrast curve needs a bit more blacks to remove the flare completely)

The most powerful colorspace to the rescue :)
Better results possible with more time spent obviously.

I can't wait until we have a standard way to share images on standard display devices. The only edit that looks like an improvement on my work pc is from ssim. All the others get progressively worse looking.

Looking forward to checking this thread out at home, so I can see what really happened.
