I think it depends on if you want to go to that many places. Look at the places you know you want to go to and check the math for entry fees.

I think we got the 1 day city pass which wasn't quite worth the money we spent. If you were here for a few days, it might be worth it. I also found that a lot of the places/services "covered" by the card aren't true. For example, if you go to the Shedd, you'll get in for free, but you'll have to pay for the special exhibits. Same idea applies to almost everything the card offers.

FS: Nothing for now.

Thats likely true of all the museums, and honestly true of museums everywhere. Special exhibits are major fundraisers and the right one can really boost the bottom line. Remember the huge lines for the Monet exhibit at the art institute in the 90's and the 150th anniversary of photography show there as well. Same thing with King Tut at the Field Museum.

I do not mean to hijack this thread but I am also going there (Itasca, IL) and these are great suggestions. However, I am there for 3 days conference and will only have 1 day to shoot.

So, which area can I pack in most photography?

Your best bet is probably a combination of Museum Campus and Millennium Park.

You shouldn't have any problems with your tripod when shooting landscapes. You will have to check it in if you are also going to museums though.

Here are some more food places :
Hot dougs - go early or late (10 or right before 4). do not go at lunchtime!
Xoco
Frontera
Blackbird
Naha
Ian's Pizza
Cafe Iberico
Boka
Union Sushi
Bongo Room
Tango Sur

I second Ian's Pizza its so good and I really need to get back there, lots of different types to try. As far as locations, I think everybody pretty much has that covered. With Navy Pier if you go I've gotten away with using a tripod before but they do have a no tripod policy.

Hancock Observatory and Sears Tower (now renamed to something else, but who cares?) both have great vantage points of the city.

Museum of Natural History

The Bean

Go to the Webber Grill downtown (make a reservation, always a long lineup). Make sure you get the cheese spread for your bread.

Milton Lee Olive Park/Ohio Street Beach. Take Michigan to Ohio (which is a few blocks from Huron). Take Ohio east to the lakefront. Use the underpass at Lake Shore Drive & Ohio Street to access the beach. When you get to the beach, you'll see a piece of wooded parkland jutting out. That's Milton Lee Olive Park. Walk over there and you'll get this view: http://www.flickr.com …in/set-72157607854056981/ (external link). Ohio Street Beach also has great views.

Trump Tower's plaza has outstanding views of the river. It's on the river one block off of Michigan on Wabash.

No problem. I don't visit this sub-forum that often, so I didn't see this thread. I edited my post to include Trump Tower's plaza.

Another one that came to mind: There is a bridge that goes from Millennium Park to the Art Institute's Modern Wing called the Nichols Bridgeway. Just don't mistake it for Frank Gehry's bridge.
