Hey Dwight... nice going. Black uniforms at night...others all white uniforms, how much fun is that . Glad you had success with the flash. I shot some on friday at my sons game but just didn't like it - recycle was way too slow and was causing lots of off shots so I tossed it. Glad it worked for you.

Surf, those with my 300mm f2.8? I didn't take it after all ... just too much stuff to carry around and the zoom is essential for lots of shots ... but there were times I really missed not having it, sigh.

Croasdail, it seems to be OK ... just gotta accept that the flash is only good for one shot a play unless the quarterback gets good protection or the halfback has to run east-west for a while before heading up field so there is time for a recharge! :-)

Yes those are from your 300mm. Next time you should bring them both and keep the 300mm mounted on the 20D.

I haven't bought one yet ... but did you know there is an external battery pack for the 550 and 580? Using it will not only increase battery life, but decrease recycle times significantly. Might be worth the investment if you're shooting lots of night time sports.

dw ... it is now on my wishlist ... thanks for thinking of it! I had a Quantum 1B+ for my previous digital body and it did both body and flash. Think I'll get a 2+2.

ACDC, it's not something one can get very addicted to ... the season only has a few home games. But it is unlikely that I would shoot one without an outside request of some sort. I shot this one at the request of the quarterback's Dad who is going to pay me to put together a collage and CD with a few images.

Fantastic images, Dwight! That last one just knocked my socks off. I've been shooting football but can't quite get it right. I've got one more opportunity next Friday, so I'm going to try using flash and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for sharing!

Thats because the school actually has money, or maybe the students are rich. Who knows........

Dwight, great shots. They are all great but I think four is fantastic. I would never guess they were ISO1600 either.
