First light with Astro-Tech 65mm Quad

I'm looking forward to having some fun with this scope. Below is my first image with it (taken a few weeks ago)

M8 and M20 5x10 minute subs Canon XS (with light pollution filter). Skies were hazy when captured so I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do in dark skies

sounds like a petzval design, should give you some nice flat fields for imaging!

Looks good just don't clip the BP . What scope did you use ?

You're correct, if the initial setup is good the scope produces a very flat image corner to corner. I love it. I'm looking forward to imaging more with it.

Scope was an Astro-Tech 65mm Quadruplet. It was on backorder for a few months so it was nice to finally get it in my hands.

I clipped the blacks on purpose. I like high contrast low noise images. Next time I'm at a dark site I want to try and capture all the beautiful dust, dark nebula and rich star fields that should be in the background. But at my current suburban location I can't get that level of detail (it looks like a muddled mess). So I went the other direction with the processing and clipped the blacks to give an inky black background so the nebulae stand out. Just a personal preference of mine.

i think you have enough data in there where you can 'unclip' the black (lack of better words) bring out more stars and still have high neb contrast, if you want, ill post another version of it

I agree !

Its an awesome pic and i love the colour. It could be just a "little" brighter over all.

I like the dark sky, no noise and pretty colors. Just as it is.
I wish I could exercise that amount of restraint.

That scope is a winner. Nice processing on the Messier objects. I agree with what was stated earlier...the image is clipped. I realize the light pollution filter will darken your background, but there is a lot of stuff surrounding those objects.
