I am looking for commentary on the levels and color quality in this image; i.e. blacks, mids, whites, color neutral, saturated, realistic, etc.

The composition and tone balance are intended. The sky and upper frame are darker and lower in contrast maximizing the fog layer to create a little drama with the break of light in the bottom of the frame.

Thanks in advance.

I like what youre going for, but I would have gotten a little less sky, the surfer on the bottom seems awkwardly low. Other than that, great shot

Thanks for the comment. There are definitely a few ways to crop the sky. I wanted to convey the sense of wide open space in a narrow frame. I wanted a tall canopy. I want him appear to be small in comparison to the ocean which he is going to engage with. Vertical panoramic format. I would usually crop featureless textures.

Blacks in the wetsuits looks clipped and overall scene looks a hair dark. Like the composition, and whatnot, though.

I scanned the wetsuit and there is some clipping and some detail which of course is in the mud on the screen but may show up in a print. Lightened the image a tad.
