With second generation core i7 processor, 8GB RAM and nVidia GT530 GPU.

http://www.dealigg.com …1TB-HDD-Windows-7-Premium (external link)

Should be fast enough for any heavy duty image processing, and most video processing.

Good find - would it be worth upgrading the video card to the radeon HD 5670 1 gb card for $20.00 for cs5

I am not sure about CS5, but most software support only nVidia GPUs (because they are based on Cuda - which is a technology/language/library proprietary to nVIdia). The competing OpenCL technology (which is similar, and supported by all vendors including AMD and nvidia) has not found widespread adoption yet.

It IS limited to nvidia cards. See www.adobe.com/go/premiere_systemreqs (external link)

GT530 is not listed there as a "certified" GPU, but I would be very surprised if it didnt work. Cuda is supported on GT530 as well.

Good thing about computer deals is there is always a "next time" :)

I can't believe that by the time I got the nerve to pull the trigger on this; the coupon had run out! Next time I will go by that old standard " I'd rather ask for forgiveness; than ask for permission".

Wow gabe; please post a follow up when you have it up and running. Glad you got in on that super deal. Dell has already updated their website and to build that system it's now about $1100.00 before tax!

If you are thinking of buying this system for the video card you are wasting your money.

My obsolete [URL="http://[URL]http//[URL]www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127325"]8800GTS will put that GT530 to shame.

The upgrade in proc/chipset is a more significant upgrade.

Yes, that is the cheapest I have seen a good core i7 configuration. I would have bought it if I already didn't have one :)

btw, the GPU performance isnt all about number of cores, though your point may be valid in this case. The 530 draws much less power as well.
