Cheap shutter remotes/interval timers that work with 5D?

Looking around at the cheap China remotes that do interval timing as well as the ability to lock the shutter open for long exposures. Don't really wanna spend more than $50. I understand the whole "you get what you pay for" mentality, but I'm not going to use this often.

Your help is appreciated.

I bought one of these (non-Canon) to take to Norway for northern lights shots. A combination of not reading the manual well enough, not taking my glasses, pitch blackness and the 'light' button actually being a reset button lead to considerable frustration.

I also suspect that the cold affected the device and even if I had taken care of the items above, it still would have had issues.
