gman,

Very nice shots and great framing too...Whenever I take shots of purple it comes out blue, any idea why?

Smile,

niloligist,

The only idea i have now is that the white balance is playng with you but i don't see why, even in auto mode, the white balance rarely comes wrong.
Did you set some so called special effects on? (vivid) i find them useless, post processing can do better, why we have to lose the full color image for a ?posible? artistic b&w one with verry little way back ?
Anyway if you post an example of purple that comes out blue maybe some others will help, it's probably some simple stuff that you forget.

gman,

Thank you, could it be filters perhaps? Just thought about that. I use UV, Skylight and Polarizer, pehaps this is what is causing this.

Thanks again.

It could be, i don't own filters or lenses (for the moment... i hope) and i don't know exactly how these afects colors and other things.
I'm desperate to get some filters too, i don't even have an adapter and still waiting at a local store to bring one. Can you believe that here i can't find a damn adapter (?). I need the adapter only, i don't have the money to buy lenses now, but one adapters and some filter will make the default lenses and the telescopic system less vulnerable. 2 days ago i forgot to fix one screw at the tripod and the camera just twist with the lens system on the a solid part of the tripod. Nothing wrong, not even a scratch but i think i've lost 5 years of my life in that moment. With the adapter and some filters on it will be just a 30$ waste, not a 600 !
Greetings

Niloligist - that's your best yet. I really like it. The "sea of soft yellow" provided by the tulips in the background against the sharper flowers in the foreground looks great. You might try sharpening it just a bit to tighten up the focus on the two in the foreground.

Gman - excellent shots. I particularly like the first flower w/the stamen kind of peeking up behind the petals. Great play of highlights on the petals in the background. The only distraction is the one green shoot that is pointing up from below the flower.

Dana,

Thanks, I am trying much harder and getting better results. Today it is going to rain, I am at work and really sad, was going to central park tonite...Oh well, no time again until Friday.

I am so into all of this, hurts when I can't go out. Now that I have my VEST, I am really eager to go out.

I can't believe you like that yellow one over this one, see below:
LOL

gman,

Did you use a macro lens? Where you shooting in macro mode? If not, what lens and mode did you use? I really like those shots, so close you can see the spider webs.

I can't believe you like that yellow one over this one, see below:

Maybe I just like tulips? :-) That's what makes horse races, I guess. (The red one is very nice as well!)

Not sure why I like the tulips so much, but it "spoke to me" quite strongly...a sense of motion in the shot due to the angle of the flowers (all tilting left, as if brushed by a gentle breeze), the graceful arch of the green stems. It is a very poetic shot to me.

Dana,

OMG, that was so poetic, you are so sensitive and intune. Tell you wife, she is so very lucky, to have a man that has feelings as deep as you do and able to explain them so eloquently too. WOW!!

You're right Dana, that green leaf pointing from below ruins the composition, i don't know how i let that there, i will clone-it out.
Niologist: I don't have macro lenses (i don't even have an adapter), i rarely use the macro mode, i use manual focus more often. I think what's important is to take a lot of shots, when you make a macro photo it asumes you have some time to spend, try focus bracketing, manual focus, auto focus, manual focus corection (by pressing SET with the MF).
This way you will avoid being fooled by the lcd and having out-of-focus pictures, i found myself having at least 5 shots for a macro.
Also for Niologist and getg3: I'm an paranoic regarding my G3 so tell me, how can i shoot when it rains, even with the umbrela, i have wet hands, and water can still reach the camera. (?)
