I don't yet have outstanding lighting equipment, but today I wanted to try to control the light well enough to produce pleasing b&w images. And I am very satisfied with what came out. First two photos are the results of my setup, the third is a photo OF my setup. What do you think? Very simple setup.

My old XTi.

My 17-40 f/4L (I love this lens).

Here is the setup for the second photo (430EX II pointed left in this photo, or camera right in relation to the 7D on the tripod. I stood in front of it wearing a white shirt to bounce it off of me onto the subject [the 17-40]. The white paper towel resting against my Mountain Dew can is to bounce any light it can back toward the other side of the lens, as that was rather dark. And of course the giant window behind the camera helped too, but I tried to exclude most of the ambient.):

In the first photo, I just bounced the flash off of the ceiling.
So like I said, it was a very simple, makeshift setup, but I think the results were pretty good considering what I had. Who needs umbrellas, softboxes, or any other modifiers when you can wear a white shirt?! ;)

Thank you, I was very satisfied with these results and am seriously considering buying an AB800 or two.
