Hi All,
This is my first post, brought about by my furious search to figure out how to view files in RAW format on my HP Pavilion. See below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hi forum members!!!
I have a Rebel Xsi and am using an HP Pavillion with Windows 7 64-bit operating system. I just shot some images in RAW format and I can't view them on my computer. I've tried everything. I tried Bridge, I downloaded the DNG converter, adobe patch installer, adobe application manager, and the Canon RAW codec (with which i get a message the software does not support the screen resolution, please change to 1024x768, which it is already set to.)
I also tried your link above. I downloaded the software following the directions very carefully (you have to save the .exe file on your hard drive and then when prompted, insert the cd that came with the camera). I got the same message as above, about screen resolution.

HELP! Is there anything I can do? I can't get good reds or yellows with this camera -- I'd like to try shooting raw. But maybe it's impossible with my current set-up. What do you think?

Much Thanks,
Laurie G

I had the same problem trying to install the software with my wife's laptop which doesn't have an optical drive, and found the solution is to trick the installer to think you've had this installed already.

* Run this at your own risk, you have to be comfortable with using registry editor *

Using the information i found on these two seperate links:

http://digital-photography-howto.com …-on-windows-xp-and-vista/ (external link)
And
http://www.northlight-images.co.uk …stall_canon_software.html (external link)

I figured EOS Utility behaved the same way, which was true.

Start--> In the 'Search programs" type in Regedit, then hit enter.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node

Add key for Canon in that folder.
From in the Canon folder, add key for EOS Utility
Run the EOS Utility installer.

I also went ahead and installed the RAW codec pack which was recently release by Microsoft to view the RAW files natively in windows.

Enjoy using RAW, you'll not want to go back to jpeg
