Few days ago I decided to try my luck with a PS3 seller with zero history. Unsurprisingly, after two days of payment, that guy has not responded at all with a tracking number or any messages. I'm going to ask for full refund from eBay buyer protection. But I'm wondering if many people are getting away like that guy. Also, are there many of those people out there? Care to share your experience?

Depends on the price of the item. For anything over $100 I stay away from 0 feedback sellers.

Rarely even look at that. Have yet to have anything but good experiences. Just got an email from Ebay congratulating me on 12 years on ebay. So far perfect track record.

On the flip side I think I stiffed someone in 1999 when I had 0 feedback. Might have been my first or second ebay auction and I didn't pay or get it of course.

This.

You have to start somewhere on eBay. Starting with a big ticket item is shady.

2 days is nothing. Ebay "recommends" that sellers ship within a week. I've seen plenty of cases with new ebayers where they simply won't respond to messages--period. Keep in mind that their email may be filtering out ebay message notifications as trash.

It's been pretty good, but I only buy nickel and dime stuff there.

Ive bought a few things from eBay years and years ago, but never sold anything and have zero feedback as a buyer or seller.

A few weeks ago I listed some parts from my truck that I was having no luck selling via other means.

People bid and won, parts were shipped out immediately and they were happy with their purchase, so now I have a couple bits of feedback.

So, there are a few good/honeslt sellers out there that are either new to eBay or like me, just never really used it. Sorry to hear about your experience, I hope your money is refunded promptly.

This .. ^^

Give the seller a few more days .. and/or send him an email (nicely).

Two weeks ago I made a purchase and I didn't hear anything from the seller at all about.
He later emailed me and said that there was a family emergency, and my item would be shipped out ASAP. It arrived in 2 days via overnight shipping, which I never even paid for ..

Sometiimes there are circumstances beyond our control.
Then again, sometimes there are just rip-offs .. I've never had a bad eBay experiance ..

Hope all goes well ..

How long should I wait until I ask eBay to investigate? It's been three days now and I have heard nothing.

Did you read the below response?

Ask eBay whenever you want. I'm sure they will do things on their terms regardless, so you aren't really going to impact anything. The thing with new sellers (or buyers) is that they likely just don't get what the expectations are. Doesn't mean they are scammers (though they might be). Maybe this seller has read the rules and figures he is perfectly fine with how he is proceeding.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of thread that the mods here always point to as a reason why they won't allow negative feedback. No one wants to have to sift through a bunch of nonsense when someone starts complaining about a seller after two days of inactivity.

I'd wait two weeks before filing a dispute, either way, paypal would rule in your favor so no worries.

If you're going to buy from a newbie, you should expect them to act like a newbie, i.e. they may not know or care about keeping you posted about the status of your purchase. They're also not running a business, so it's possible they haven't even looked at the auction recently. And they're not required to communicate or to give you any shipping/tracking info.

Panicking and wanting to file after two days is also newbie behavior, and eBay won't even let you open a case that soon. You can't file until after the expected delivery date.

I did. But I'm looking for more definite statement about the period of waiting without any news. One week, two weeks, 10 days.... Different people have different ideas.

Also, please save your lamentation. It is not yet a negative feedback. If a mod is nervous enough to take this thread to be another reason for not allowing negative feedback, it's not my problem. (Maybe you shouldn't make the mod think so.)

It is always a tough call. But I will say this; Being a zero feedabck seller is tough. I mean you know yourself that your an honest seller. But there is that stigma that you are somehow dishonest, just because you have to start somewhere.

Not pointing fingers, accusing or that it has happened to me. Just making a statement:

For every bad seller, there is a bad buyer too. Just saying there are some right morons out there, who suck at life and have no clue. For sure there are very honest sellers and buyers out there that have been negged byt some nitwit.
