reading the two latest threads on people accidentally deleting there entire photo collection got me thinking.

Exactly why am I hoarding all these pictures? Can't really think of a good reason. I guess a few will be memories that I can look back on but the artsy flower shots or whatever will rarely get more then a rare glance unless it is truely sensational. I mean I enjoy taking them and working on improving my PP but if it was all deleted tomorrow doubt it will bother me much.

What about you?

I actually use most of the photos I shoot. I make albums of photos for my immediate family each year. I also use photo albums of extended family vacations as gifts. And then all the sports stuff I shoot I sell and make posters / slideshows etc.

I use a Canon 5DIII and a Sony A7rIII

Yes photos that stay on a computer hard drive are lonely photos. People should still be making photo albums (physical with printed images). When people get together, they are much more likely to look at a photo album that to look at stuff on a home computer.

I dunno, it's not really 'hoarding' in my opinion I guess. For me, I just see no incentive at all to delete anything other than reclaiming hard drive space, but 2 TB drives are so cheap now it really doesn't matter. It's fun to go back through stuff sometimes to see progression or just for the memories, etc.

I've lost quite a number of photos years ago from a failed drive I wasn't smart enough to back up and it was very frustrating, I'm not looking to replicate that experience... It's the pictures of family and friends and stuff that are the irreplaceable ones, the flower and landscape shots I'll get over in a hurry

I try to print the best "artsy" photos, and put the ones of family events on an LCD frame so they can see them all the time.

With the amount I've got, I will be skint by the time I have finished with all my photos, I'm sure that goes with most of us on here
