As if Canon needed to give me another reason to be PO'd at them right now I just found out that my S95's rear control ring is nearly non-functional. I can spin it all I want and it does absolutely nothing. The directional pad under the rear control ring works fine. I have occasionally seen the control ring shift a setting once but by and large it appears completely broken.

Add this to my 24mm F1.4L II fiasco(which Canon has had my 7D and 24mm lens 5 time now and is now sitting on it for 3 weeks since I sent it back in this last time with no status update) and they have one pissed off customer. They've had my 7D and 24mm lens more than I have and that's saying something considering I bought them in february.

Sorry OP - I understand your frustration, but not the reason for the topic. Just venting?

Part vent part hope that someone here had the same issue and to see if Canon fixed it and how long it took.

Gotcha. Sorry that you're having all of this trouble :(.

Do you have a link to a topic about your 7D & 24L issues?

At this point I just want my 7D back...my other lenses worked well with it. The thought that both my cameras will be at Canon is very annoying. I just want to take pictures.

Well I think the obvious answer is that you should buy another camera .

Since we're in the 'Small Compact Camera Section' I think rants about the 7D isn't appropriate....If your S95 isn't performing to your standards...simply return and receive another copy...This is the first problem I've heard with the rear control dial with the S95

The topic is about the rear control dial on my S95 working. The 7D is a side not to show why I would be so irritated at this point with repairs through Canon.

You cannot return a product and receive a new copy 6 months after you bought it...you have to ship it to Canon and go through their repair process.

Most new Canons have a 12mo warranty.....did you to contact them and explain your situation?

No, they are closed. The warranty means they will repair it, or replace if they so choose to. It does not mean they immediately ship you a new S95 to replace your broken one.

Ahh, I'm well aware of warranty negotiations my friend. You need to contact them directly if you feel you really have a need to satisfy your issue. That is the only way... ...I'm out...
