Does anyone have experience with these legs. I am seriously considering these. I would like to know if there are any drawbacks. Thanks for any responses.

I have the Neotec Monopod and love it and was considering the 458B tripod legs.

I had forgotten about this thread Franko. Thanks for drawing it to my attention.
I did purchase those legs and like them a lot. They are sturdy and a snap to deploy or collapse. The center post can be inverted or put at 90 degrees to the vertical axis for more variable shooting angles.

When the center pole is inverted do the legs spead wide or are do they stay at the same position as when the pole is upright? The reason I asked is because I have seen pics of tripods with the camera on the pole upside down and the legs were retracted and spread really wide (im searching for a pic to show, this probably only makes sense to me :oops: ) Please excuse my newness, I used a tripod for the first time at the Chicago P.O.T.N Meet and loved it now I have to have one like now :D

The tripod I used had the legs at a fixed distance apart ( they wouldnt move out any further). Is there a release to make them spead further or does that depend on leg models?

Again, thanks for your reply and any help you can provide.

Oh yeah, I love my Neotec Monopod. Its a breeze to use, quick to open and close. I read were some people said it wasnt sturdy, well mine sure is, even fully extended.

The center post can be inserted so that the head is either above or below the junction of the legs.
The angle of the legs can be set to 3 or 4 different settings independent of which way the center post is mounted.
With the camera beneath the tripod you can attain all sorts of odd positions :lol:

The center post may also be mounted horizontally which has all kinds of possibilities for use in macro photography. Of course this will have a tendency to tip the tripod over but the carrying strap also works well in suspending some weight source (read camera bag :lol: ) beneath the legs. See the second attached photo.

One last question, without the center pole extended how tall is the tripod?

The reason I ask is because I assume the tripod is a little less stable with it extended and I dont want to have to crouch too low to use it.

I have a 488RC2 ball head on mine. With the center post dropped all the way the view finder of my 20D is at 59 inches. If I lift it another 5 inches it is still solid as a rock.
If you need some more stability then just hang your camera bag between the legs on the straps provided.
