I went to Beloit, Kansas on June 11th for the Kansas Eight Man Football All-Star Games. The games were created to give the Seniors who play Eight Man Football a chance to enjoy one last game before college. It was also created since the main High School All-Star game in Kansas is the Shrine Bowl and they typically only take two Eight Man players to join the rest of the Eleven Man players in the state.

We had great weather again this year for the games. It was nice to walk up and down the sidelines again with camera in hand. Not to mention, it was great to photograph football in daylight and not under lights.

The Division II game was a track meet with a final score of 74-30. East Quarterback Gunner Phelan (#9) went insane with an amazing passing game.

The Division I game was a closer affair with a 26-12 final score. It was more a classic grind it out ground game than the earlier one.

Several of the players from both Divisions will meet up in Hays, Kansas on June 25th for a game against the Nebraska Eight Man All-Stars.

Here are some of the pics I took:

(Please let me know if you have any suggestions or critiques on the pics, I know I still have a lot to learn.)

Small world. My nephew played in that game (Daniel Krehbiel) from Pretty Prairie. Any pictures on him? I think he's playing in Hays also.

BTW: My mom's from Great Bend. Out of her family (including Uncle and Aunt) there is only my 2nd cousin living there. They all moved to either Denver, Oklahoma, or Wichita area. They were farming west of town.

Looked through your photos on your website and caught a glimpse of Storm Pickens from my boy's HIgh School-Peabody-Burns.

Great shots, you want to share those settings so we don't have to guess at them for reference.

Sorry for not including the settings:

I used my Rebel XTi (400D) and a 70-200mm f/4.0L USM (non-IS). The camera was set to manual mode with the aperture wide open at f/4.0, shutter speed was between 1/1600 to 1/2500. I had the ISO at 400 and Auto White Balance.

I'm used to it being a small world here in Kansas, especially when you get outside of the metro areas.

Those are great photos! I'll pass on the info to them. Are they up on your website? Thanks!

He's going to play football at a local college just north of me at Tabor in Hillsboro.

Yes, they are on my website. http://www.joeybahr.com …-division-i-all-star-game (external link)

Sounds like he will be playing against a few other 8-man players in the KCAC next year. There's a kid from Otis-Bison (where I went to school and have cousins playing there), Michael Hlavaty, who's going to Bethany. I think I heard some people on the sidelines talking about other kids playing in the KCAC too.
