nice work here mate. some flippin footage. sorry can i ask a noob question? when you're editing how do you slow the footage down and then speed it up in the same clip. i have only just started using FCP. do u slow from 60p to 24p in cinema tools and then speed up the parts of the clip u want in fcp?

This is a great example of one of the downsides of cinestyle, in the way it chops out the bottom 16 levels -which can create banding in areas that would normally be slight gradients - your sky shows very noticeable banding (which, most likely wouldn't be present if the footage had all 256 levels intact).

Personally, the more I try Cinestyle, the less I like it due to issues like this.

Other than that, fun stuff. You're out there shooting, testing, learning - good on ya!

you made 2 copies of ur footages ... one you use cinema tool to slow it down keep the other ... then connect it in real clip ... that's it :)

Just curious, what picture style do you use? I tried Cinestyle, now I lean more towards just shooting in neutral with contrast at -4, saturation at -1, sharpness at 0

I shoot very similar to you for the most part, neutral, contrast -3, sat -2, sharpness 0. In certain circumstances I use Marvel, but for the most part I try to get it as close in camera as possible. Had high hopes for Cinestyle, but find the banding and noise that suddenly appear in grading are too much for my tastes. But that's just me
