How do you rotate a layer when zoomed in?

As of yet, I have not figured out how to rotate a layer when the corners are not visible - in other words, when zoomed in. Selecting EDIT/TRANSFORM/ROTATE from the drop down menu puts little anchors on the corners of the image. The anchors seem to be visible only when I have the entire image (plus a little bit more). Zoom in and the anchors disappear. When zoomed in, the right mouse activate a "move" of the layer, not rotate, and the left mouse does nothing useful.

Any help?

Thanks,

Rad

P.S. I know that you can enter degrees, but that sort of trial and error takes a whole lot of time.

Edit > Free transform
Then the transform controls should show up in the bar above the document (if not make sure you have Window > options checked) then you can enter a value in the box for the angle, or click and drag on the angle image(holding shift makes the value drag faster) or click inside the value box and use your scroll wheel(holding shift makes if go faster).

I am not sure if there are any other ways, but that does do the job, and is very precise.

First make sure you are in fact in Free Transform "Rotate" and not any of the other Free Transform Modes. i.e. Scale, Skew, Perspective, Warp, etc.

Secondly, if you are zoomed in so far that you fill the screen/window you will have to use the Rotate button on the tool bar. Place your mouse cursor on the button circled in the following image. Hold down your left mouse button and move it to one side or the other to rotate.

Otherwise you have to be able to place the mouse cursor just outside the image/transform box to use your mouse to rotate the image.

Also make sure you're not switched to warp mode somehow.
Click the icon on the tool bar to switch between free transform and warp.

Is there any specific reason you need to be zoomed in to rotate your layer?

Thank you, gentlepeople!

That's exactly what I wanted to do.
