In #1 this is a rain forest setting and while we get a huge smack of green there isn't enough shape or interest within that context to keep my attention. No doubt there are lines of visual force directing the eye. The problem is there is no where to go. #2 is even more common than #1 and in this image the contrast and shape are significantly more interesting however again once you have reached the top of the treeline there is no where to go.
