Does anyone use this hack?
Are there any issues using this?
is it easy to do?

I have been doing searches on it and not sure if I should use it on my sx30is.

I want to be able to capture raw images.

Nikon D850 and a bunch of stuff, I have learned a lot here when I was shooting Canon, staying to keep learning..."Every time I set up I learn something new".

From what I've heard, CHDK works fine with the SX30, and indeed allows RAW capture.
Since it doesn't replace the camera's firmware, just loaded on top from the memory card,
you can always decide not to load it next time you turn on the camera - so there's no problem.

I use it on my A540 and G11.

Is it easy to do, well there are good instructions both on YouTube and the CHDK site, with a user forum as well, YMMV.

Any issues, all I can say is it works

Load up CHDK onto your sd card then add the scripts under the "user-written scripts" section and watch as your camera becomes that much more powerful. CHDK is a wonderful application/mod

I use CHDK on both my SD 900and SD990 Great stuff, lots of additions to the Canon OP. I don't use raw often but when I do I use DNG option DNG is supported by PSE 9 where CHDK raw is not

bklynwriter there are several things that can cause loading problems, card size and card format, easier with a max 4mp card and must be formated fat16. if you follow the instructions to the letter it will work see link below

good luck

Format your SDHC card first to fat 16 or 32, i forget.
ENABLE YOUR SDHC CARD USING THE YELLOW PROTECT SWITCH. Happened to me on the first time i used chdk and I felt like a moron for not seeing that step.

FAT16, IIRC. Most cards of over 2 GB come FAT32, but can be forced into FAT16 format at the Windows Command Line.

Does the fact that I'm using a 4GB card make any difference? How do I access the CHDK menu after I put the card into the camera?

NEVER MIND!!

I FINALLY got it working! YAY!
