Just saw one on Craigslist for $225. Is it really worth the trouble for less than $75?

Can you take my picture on some railroad tracks?! No, that's illegal now. I'm really sorry.

Ehh... what trouble? (Clint Eastwood?) (correction: Robert Redford in Jeremiah Johnson)

Took some test shots - this is a fine lens as long as you don't try to stretch it's capabilities. Has nice IQ at 250mm - surprising. Quality of crops is very reasonable. I may end up with some expensive prime in a few years, but this is a good, inexpensive way to become acquainted with the range. Might turn out to be the best $150 I ever spent.

Is showing up at a store for a 33% discount "trouble"?

'on sale' =/= 'for sale'

Is it on sale at all Targets? My Target had it in stock but was still at regular price even after asking the clerk to scan it to make sure. BTW I'm located in Honolulu...also new to the forums!

It's national but I heard it's not working at stores in Hawaii (don't quote me)

I mean, is it really worth it to snatch up extra lenses for $150 with the sole intention of reselling them on Craigslist for $200+? Leave them in the store for a budding photographer... (Really just a rant)

thanks for the link! Too bad the 75-300 looks like a crappy lens and the 55-250 is OOS. :(

The 55-250 is an EFS lens that won't work on my camera. I went to Target and bought a 75-300 Mk III for $99.99 and am pleasantly surprised. It seems to be a good lens with very good IQ for the price. I understand there may be some quality variations from specimen to specimen so, if you buy one, check it out thoroughly before you decide to keep it.

Yea guys, thanks for the link! My local store was sold out so I ran to one about 20 miles away and they had 2 left. I picked one up for myself and left the other for whoever might need it! Just hope they get it by tomorrrow... This one should hold me over for a few years until I feel the need for more expensive glass!

I was in my local target store today, remembered this thread and asked if they had any in stock. They had about 4 55-250mm ones in stock! Too bad I don't need any.

Visited a local gym before leaving for Nationals - the 55-250 is too slow to be of any real benefit on inside poorly lit gyms... as I suspected. I can get the pics wide-open at ISO 3200, but they are darkish and there's too much focus hunting (compared to my 85/1.8). But still a good lens for outdoors carry-around - very light-weight and decent IQ.
