Hey guys, I am thinking of building a new website for my new observatory, ASIGN Observatory II.

As it is non-profit site (hobby) I would like to put it on one of these free sites with simple click, drag, easy build templates and all that.

The biggest issue is IMAGE DISPLAY.

I want to host astrophotos that will preview as thumbs, but when clicked FILL THE SCREEN or at least most of it.

Any good ones out there that fit this description, are reliable and won't disappear overnight and leave me with no website?

Baz.

P.S. I'm using Webs at the moment for my photography, but not happy with the way it displays images.

Take a look at zenphoto.org which is a content management system that you host yourself. They have a large community to help with questions and setting it up. The possibilities for customizing the site are endless. I use zenphoto for my online portfolio. Another thing, out of all web solutions I have seen thus far zenphoto is unbeatable when it comes to onsite seo.

Free JAlbum.net - Will build excellent galleries & now has free hosting, too. The skins seem easy to modify & there's a lot of help in their forums. Some subforums are dedicated to only one skin, which makes it easier to get info. And many of the skins have been made by users, & they would possibly be interested in helping you to customize yours.

FrankC - 20D, RAW, Manual everything...
Classic Carz, Racing, Air Show, Flowers.
Find the light... A few Car Lighting Tips, and MOVE YOUR FEET!
Have you thought about making your own book? // Need an exposure crutch?
New Image Size Limits: Image must not exceed 1600 pixels on any side.

I really like your site! Its not the free one correct? I may have to switch from my wix account, flash has gotten to be quite annoying, and restricting to posting photos. Do you feel the site represents your photos in the quality you expect/ require from the original edited images? My problem is that my site degrades my images even when i resize them. How is it working in conjunction with facebook? Good results views wise?

You can get really cheap hosting plans for like 5$ a month + like 10$ per year for the domain.
Then just use joomla or wordpress etc. for your cms, it's a piece of cake and looks professional.

Yep, it's the free one. Although you can pay a small fee to have the banner ads removed. I got used to it and pretty much never noticed them, but when I started business in photography, I thought I better pay it and get them removed.

I size all my pics at 800 pixels on the long side then sharpen and it looks great on both the site and facebook.

The templates are pretty versatile, neat and easy to work with.
