Just had another experience this past weekend with the weather sealing of the 7D. I've read many posts saying that it's nothing compared to the 1D's sealing, and that may be true, but I've also read posts totally discounting the "weather sealing" on the 7D.

I was shooting last Saturday at an outdoor wedding with my 7D and 70-200 2.8 L IS when it started to downpour. The ceremony went on, and so did the 7D. By the time we got inside, we were nothing short of soaked, and I looked at the camera and lens, and they received the full fury of the weather. I threw on the 35 1.4, and proceeded to shoot the reception with nothing more than a wipe to the viewfinder to see clearly.

Don't want to sound like I'm bragging on the 7D or anything. Just want to throw this out there for information. Maybe someone who is wondering about it after reading all the knockdown posts about it elsewhere. Gotta give props to it.

I always hear the same thing, 7D & 5D II are not weathersealed. yes not as good as the D-series obviously, but look what this guy put both of the cameras through, and he reported they both worked flawlessly.

I use my 5d mk II in the rain quite often & out in the snow her in jersey during the winter, never had an issue ever

Sometimes people ride bikes without helmets and don't get catastrophic brain injury.

To me the cost of replacing equipment is prohibitive, so when a camera has only moderate weather sealing (which is being generous when you look at the 7D's technical drawings), I'm tempted to use garbage bag.

The seal biting the tripod in the foreground is cracking me up

It's lens. There's no such word as lense.
