It's on the Japanese site, anyway.

It's for full frame and they have 5Dmk2 samples. No idea on pricing, but I would think it would have to be pretty reasonable given the alternative (17-40L)

Wow, this is excellent. Looks like I found my UWA when its released!

Edge performance looks excellent! Can't wait! Hope it takes 77mm filters.

82mm filter size. That's pretty big for a 17-35mm f/4 lens. Maybe Tokina need that size to get better light fall off performance. Most of my filters are 77mm size.

The 16-35 II is 82mm filter as well, but it is also a f/2.8 lens... I am guessing for the reason you suggested, they wanted better light fall off control.

I think it is just to sell you some new Kenko or Hoya 82mm filters... :)

(Tokina is the same company as Hoya and Kenko)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's gonna be $649.
Probably will have better IQ than the Canon 17-40mm f4L (Just my guess that's all).
Looking at the sample full size images, the distortion seems pretty well controlled guessing from the beach shot at 17mm and the all 17mm shots seem pretty sharp except the extreme edges and no CA.
Looks like an interesting lens. And maybe released in August, which probably will be more like Oct to Dec before it's widely available if past Tokina release pattern holds.

Now I wonder if Canon will release that 16-40 f/4L... There is a patent out for it, that would be incredible. I would love the 16mm vs. 17mm, and would probably have nice IQ improvements over the 17-40... But also a price tag that is double, I am sure.

Meh, picked up a Tamron AF 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di LD Aspherical lens for $200 NEW and what a great lens! However I also own a Tokina 100mm macro and you can't beat it for build quality vs price so it would be interesting to see how much this lens will cost?

Most of the impressive samples on that link are at f9 or 11, so I wonder if there is much difference between the best and worst lenses at that aperture.

There is a shot taken in something that looks like an underwater cave at 17mm f4. It looked ok to me but obviously not sharp as those shot stopped down.

Hmmm...Will the lens work on release? They keep selling defective lenses with aperture blades that get stuck. What's up with that?:lol:

Hmm...looks interesting, and it'll be great if it's cheap. I just wish they wouldn't have posted crappy JPEGS as sample shots. Obviously they're unlikely to give us RAW files...but the least they could do is shoot in RAW and convert them! It's just impossible to tell how sharp this thing really is from this stuff.

What? No pics with the thing pointed into the sun?

That seems to be Tokina's downfall with their lenses. Don't do too well with lens flare. :(

Interesting lens, and I will keep an eye on it to see if they have improved their optics at all.

17 TS-E,24 TS-E MK II, and the Zeiss 21 control flare very well. The downside is the price but, you get what you pay for. :)
