First decent bug shot!

With Sigma 1.6 achromatic and quickly processing in LR.
Accidentally had on cam flash on but it worked out nicely. Next time I'd probably do flash exposure comp -1.
Still learning to judge placing the camera the correct working distance from the subject for each filter so the autofocus works well.
All in all it works!

Nice shot,theres a great macro thread on here now,check it out tcman.
I reakon you would get away with doing a 180 revolve on the image.

I know what you mean about the flash, the problem is that without, it gets complex unless you have great light. But get too close and it is easy to blow the highlights, flash compensation works well, but the real trick is getting the flash further away and fitting a diffuser can help - glad it is coming together...

Thanks people.
Its really amazing to be doing handheld action bug shots.
I never would have imagined it without John's posts of a few months ago and the revelation of the 1.6.
And the cool little camera of course.

Yup, the G series are great cameras. This was hand held with the G9, quick candid shot so it was set for auto. It's 1/60th at F:8.
Hope this shot isn't too risqué for this forum! :lol:
