Hello all.

I have a Crumpler 6 million dollar home. It is great for storing all that I have. I am looking for something smaller, for when I just want to go out with my camera (40D) and my Tamron 17-50 attached. This would be used for trips to the park or zoo. That kind of thing.

Thanks for any direction!

Marilyn

How about Crumpler Jimmy Bo (external link)? I think you need size 400 or above.

Think Tank "Retrospective 5"

Domke F-5XB or maybe even the F-5XA

Think Tank "Digital Holster" to fit your camera/lens combo

Think Tank "Urban Disguise 20 or 30"

I have a LowePro Rezo TLZ-20 (external link) case for when I just want to carry around my 7D and Tamron 17-50 and nothing else, and it quite literally fits perfectly. The front storage compartment can't store much that isn't thin and small (so something like your phone, more CF cards, papers, etc.). It's also significantly cheaper than any equivalent ThinkTank, Crumpler, or Domke bag, and is not made cheaply at all.

If you're really in a bind, you can stuff a 430EX-sized flash in the main compartment, sitting on top of the camera. I've done it a few times when I wanted my flash but didn't want to carry my whole backpack.

Absolutely LOVE my retro 5 for small setups. I use it mostly with 2 primes but it's my most used bag since I usually go light.

Easy to get camera in and out and it has plenty of little pockets for accessories. Very comfortable, best bag for me. I also like the Domke 5xc but this one is much better.

Here with a 60D + 24LII

+1 for Retrospective bags. I got Retro10 to carry 1 body and max 2 lenses. Excellent bag, like the quality of ThinkTank products. It is much bigger and can hold more than that but it does fit iPad in front pocket which was reason to chose it over the Retro5. But thats only for me. :)

I have a retro 10 as well. much different bags. The 10 is way bigger. But I have tried out countless bags and these are 2 of the 3 I kept.

Lowepro Exchange Messenger

Works great a smaller kit but can still hold an extra lens and flash if need be. Can be found under $30 new on Ebay.

Thanks, shedberg, that's perfect. The Lowepro Toploader Zoom 45 AW is what I ended up with. It fits the camera perfectly. It's so small, & it fits in my large purse. Sweet. Thanks again!

Took these pics for a review of the Domke F-5XA I have planned with the G12 & a prime mounted DSLR. Still need to take more pics with different lenses/bodies, but here are a few pics that I thought would fit your thread.

fwiw: Domke F-5XA will fit a DSLR with a Mid-Range Zoom Mounted. Such as the Canon 40D w/ Tamron 17-50 Mounted in your signature. Just havent had a chance to take pics of that yet.

Here are the pics I have so far:

* Front Bag to Camera Size Comparrison

* Top Bag to Camera Size Comparrison

* Top Pic with items listed below:

IMAGE: http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j122/fkim2003/IMG_0934800x600.jpg

* Zips up easy
IMAGE: http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j122/fkim2003/IMG_0933800x600.jpg

Setup I carry/had on hand over this past weekend.

Domke F-5XA:

Main Section
- Canon 50D
w/ EF 50mm f/1.8 II "Nifty-Fifty"

- Center Section: NOTE
* Had a corded timer remote for my G12 in there, but I had to remove it for the DSLR/Prime to fit without packing it tight. Would be a perfect fit with the hood attached to the Nifty-Fifty or with a Mid Zoom w/o Hood.

Last Section:
- Sunpak RD2000 Flash
* Any flash larger/taller than this I'd opt for the Domke F-5XB

Front Pockets:
- Extra Batteries, Flash/Memory Cards; Front Cap

_______________

Hope this helps ! :)

They also have the SLR SLing (external link), perfect for adding an extra lens and maybe a travel tripod.

Glad it's a good fit for you. I own two LowePro bags and I really like them both. They are great quality.
