I purchased a 5DmkII several weeks back and I thought the shutter actuations were loud. But in a meeting today, I got some dirty looks from attendees when I fired off a few pictures.

Is this typical of the 5DmkII?

Yes... It is probably the loudest shutter I have heard as of yet that I have used... Xsi, T1i, 7D, 5Dc and now the 5D2.

Its more "clunky" then the rebels of course, which are higher pitched. But it does sound louder in general, probably due to the size of the mirror and shutter assemblies.
