Statuette. This lady played a prominent part in nursing during the Crimean War 1853-1856.
Do I really have to reveal the lady's identity?:-)
Well; if you don't know, here is a link. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Nightingale (external link)
The original stands in Waterloo Place, London, and was erected in 1915.
Sir AG Walker was the artist/sculptor of this and many WW1 Memorial bronze statues.

Very nice Ray
Is this in The Ray Petri Collection ?

Has a beautiful patina or finish.
Is it bronze or ceramic?

Hi Richard, Thanks.
It is original. I can't find the foundry it came from but I assume it is c1915. Cast in bronze with a pink marble plinth. Overall - top to bottom of plinth about 22". Rather heavy.
Belongs to SWMBO actually as we used to call her Florence Nightingale due to her profession.
It fitted in at a time when I was collecting Crimean War things, but I have since sold the gun collection.

About the nearest I can claim for a gun collection is a 30mm Aden cannon shell case that I collected when it fell from a Hunter doing a ground attack run at the air to ground firing range in North Malaya. Five of us 'erks' were 'volunteered' to go up there for 5 days to mark the targets. Good Game, Good Game as Brucie used to say?

It was an impressive sight when they even when they fired one cannon at 1500 rounds/minute. I wouldn't have liked to be in front of them when all 4 were going!

What sort of gun (I started to put gin there  ) collection did you have Ray?

John, Well; as you say; you did volunteer. :-)
Did you have to make the customary declaration "I have no live rounds or empty cases in my possession Sir!?":-)
I have a couple of empty small shells and cases one of my uncles brought back from WW1 - must research them.
My collection was from 1650-1900. That 250 year period saw us peace loving Brits involved in more conflicts than you could care to imagine - you name the place - we were there defending it (I think defending was the politically correct word to use - nothing changes)-?. Unfortunately the 303s were deactivated - but the older flintlocks, percussions, blunderbusses, and rim fire were ok. Apart from their value just laying around I can see a day coming when they will all have be sadly surrendered.

No bloody way mate! Declare nothing, and I was volunteered fro 5 daze in a hut in the Malay jungle. We had to chase the local lads away because they were chasing under the attack aircraft trying the find the cartridge cases. The brass was cash to them! If one had got hit by one of those cases he was dead and that would have looked bad for us! Anyway, I was the senior bloke there with a couple of stripes on my arm so who would I report to?

Johann Nikolaus Gotz (1721-1781), German poet. Not sure of the significance of the small frog, bottom left.
