I've seen these for $60+ but honestly don't understand why something like this should cost so much. Any place to find cheaper but still reliable for a non-professional?

Thanks!

You're paying for quality and fidelity. When a client says "I want this to be exactly Red," using a quality color checker means you get 255, 0, 0 and not 253, 2, 3.

For normal, average, everyday use, get a good gray card and you'll be well inside the ballpark.

How do you use a gray card?

You place it in your scene or under the same light and use the eye-dropper tool in processing software to set your white balance.
