Here is one I just edited in lightroom and liked. An artsy macro.

She is on the lens section under the Tamron 70-300 VC almost daily. Taking some great shots with that lens.

Thanks for the info I am just wondering why she stop posting here.
She must be having too much fun with the lens....nice, I hope she will share with us too. Or maybe she upgraded with another body.

These were shot with autofocus with the focus range on the camera set from 0.3-0.5mm so it focuses quite fast when you are close to the subject. I was within a foot of the subject in these images and I did crop some. I had IS on as I was hand holding and the wind was causing some slight movement of the flowers. If the conditions were calm and if I had it on the tripod, I would have turned IS off. Good luck with trying it some more and post some images.

Thanks for the info....great shots from the last pages.

Great shots everyone. Very nice series to all.

Thanks Troy. That is an excellent shot you have there.

Why would you want extension tubes for a macro lens?

I was just using the zoom and focusing was a real pita.

I would like to join the discussion if I may, Thanks for the link that is really something. Bobobird I asked killerclown for his setup once and he posted his setup few pages back (maybe 10 pages of more) anyway when I saw the rig that trulie provided I kind of imagine the setup of killerclown although he did not post a pic of his setup it is kind of the same the pic from the link if you think about it.

This is I remember he posted.

He use ringflash, extension tube also plus the 100mm macro lens and KILLERCLOWN can correct me or verify this info. I love his macro shots.

Thanks Peter, like you I try to be do better with each outing but as usual for me it is usually 1 step forward and 3 steps back. :)

Yes that is the interesting part of macro work - it never crossed my mind that people would need/want to use tubes with their dedicated macro lens.

So... if I ever feel the urge to do Killer style pics a true macro lens and a ring flash are 2 must get things, maybe also a rails system and a nice pan/tilt ballhead. Already have the cheapest part - the tubes. hehe

Thanks for your comment, on the subject of tubes, I have only owned these for two weeks and I'm still getting used to them. I don't think they are really necessary, I just wanted to give them a try. All of my shots are taken hand held and believe me tubes really do show how steady or not your hands are while taking macro pics. for me it was a cheaper option than the MPE-65 lens. some of my best shots have been taken using 60mm or 100mm lens and if needed the pop-up flash ( defused with cigarette papers ) I will post a pic of my setup later today.
These shots, one with and one without tubes, no crop or re size show the difference.

Inchpractice - that is beautiful capture. Not easy capturing clouds like that.

Love this! I'm a radio engineer by day so this made me say WOW out loud. I love the cloud around the towers

There's a subtlety to it that just seems peaceful. Whatever Flickr did to it didn't ruin that. Good shot!

Thanks guys.
Really appreciate the comments.
Shooting clouds is tricky but I think the CPF made all the difference this time. Also I've recently learned how to take advantage of the AE lock button.

CPF also really helped with the next one. I wouldn't normally take a picture of a cellphone mast but the clouds were creeping through like smoke:

Loads of nice shots, here is my little contribution. I went to the Cardiff Mardi Gras on Saturday, and here are a couple of the 600 or so shots I took;
