Great shots everyone. ---------- Today's spam. ![]() A couple of faux macros (20+12mm tubes stacked). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks bobobird...the pictures above are just amazing bobobird I don't know what to say I am just stunned how great they are. You certainly outdone yourself here. Peter2516 wrote in post #13044434 These were shot with autofocus with the focus range on the camera set from 0.3-0.5mm so it focuses quite fast when you are close to the subject. I was within a foot of the subject in these images and I did crop some. I had IS on as I was hand holding and the wind was causing some slight movement of the flowers. If the conditions were calm and if I had it on the tripod, I would have turned IS off. Good luck with trying it some more and post some images. Thanks for the info....great shots from the last pages. Why would you want extension tubes for a macro lens? I was just using the zoom and focusing was a real pita. trulie98 wrote in post #13046162 The closer the better. Check this rig out.http://digital-photography-school.com/forum/macro-sys/160777-canon-ef-100mm-f-2-8-l-macro-incredible-lens.html I would like to join the discussion if I may, Thanks for the link that is really something. Bobobird I asked killerclown for his setup once and he posted his setup few pages back (maybe 10 pages of more) anyway when I saw the rig that trulie provided I kind of imagine the setup of killerclown although he did not post a pic of his setup it is kind of the same the pic from the link if you think about it. This is I remember he posted. He use ringflash, extension tube also plus the 100mm macro lens and KILLERCLOWN can correct me or verify this info. I love his macro shots. Thanks for your comment, on the subject of tubes, I have only owned these for two weeks and I'm still getting used to them. I don't think they are really necessary, I just wanted to give them a try. All of my shots are taken hand held and believe me tubes really do show how steady or not your hands are while taking macro pics. for me it was a cheaper option than the MPE-65 lens. some of my best shots have been taken using 60mm or 100mm lens and if needed the pop-up flash ( defused with cigarette papers ) I will post a pic of my setup later today.
