Ignore the composition, the scruffy little dog (she is called Ruby). I just wanted to test out some fairly low light stuff. I will be shooting some models in low light in a night club on Sunday, so any tips to improve my technique and processing would be immensely appreciated; Sony A7 | 28-70 | Tamron 15-30 (Canon fit)

WideBoy Senior Member 629 posts Joined May 2011 More info | I didn't really want to go above ISO1600, and it was pretty dark. She won't stay still for even 1 250th of a second so grabbing focus is a nightmare. I did try to focus on the eyes, but as I said she is much more interested in sniffing things and licking her bottom than posing for the camera. At least with models they stay still when you ask them!!! Sony A7 | 28-70 | Tamron 15-30 (Canon fit)

I use back button focus then re compose, good idea, bad idea?

Thanks Peter, that lake is at 9,500' and I rode my mountian bike up to it from our camp at 8,000' so had to let the heart rate drop before attempting to take shots. The approaching storm was moving in fast and I tried to capture the lightning but just not fast enough. -- Eric --
