Nice shots Marlfox, I particularly like the first one the portrait as it is very natural, you have resisted the temptation to whiten the eyes till they look like painted marbles and blur the skin till it looks like a plastic blow up doll.
I don't understand if people are going to photoshop faces that much they don't just all paste the same face on to a body as it is no longer a photograph of anything real, just another photoshop painting!!!

Anyway, nice to see a natural face. The second one, looks lovely, but, and I am no fan of studio posing (I am beginning to sound like a real old grumpy pants), If you have the time to compose a shot, I would try not to cut a tiny bit of the shoe off. I don't mind clops through faces or hands or whatever, so long as it looks deliberate, that just looks like a mistake, a bit sloppy.

Please don't take it the wrong way. I just recently commented on how beautiful someones portrait was, how sharp and detailed, yet still natural it was, but the eyes looked a little over processed. And someone else made exactly the same comment. She replied by saying if all we were going to do was criticise what she thought was "one of the best portraits on Facebook" she wouldn't post again and deleted the post.

Which was a shame as it was a lovely portrait....

Na, the shoe bugged me as well. You're right, was a mistake :p. like I said though, I'm no pro and still on a steep learning curve. And all feedback helps!

Thanks for the comments. Oh, and I agree there's some scary over the top processing. I don't get the craze.

hey everyone, been browsing this thread a lot and man im surprised at the immense quality photos everyone here takes. Looks like I have to keep on practicing. I haven't done any shooting in probably a month or two, but with work and school almost finishing up its hectic to find time. Anyways here is one of my fav's, cant wait to go back and take the 10-22 there.

After seeing your shots from your 24mm I am liking that lens more and more. I am trying to pick my next lens, I like to shoot landscapes but I also shoot alot of kids outside portraits and cars... I am leaning towards a 24-70L or 24-105L, or the 24mm and a 85mm 1.8

White Venom, I have enjoyed my 24mm f/2.8. I bought it second hand for fairly cheap and it isn't an expensive lens to begin with. I find it does get soft towards the edges, but I've liked the images that I've received from it for landscapes especially at f/8 and up, which I use for landscapes anyway. I was hoping it would be a better low light lens, and it does okay, but there are other faster primes that do a better job in lower light. I'm hoping that my 24-70 performs even better for landscapes, but I haven't had the time to get out and use it. Overall it has been a nice little lens for me though.

I will be interested to know how the 24-70 does... my only concern is no IS but for that short of range it might not be needed

Mmmmmm very sharp DT, lovely background. For that sharpness, and the way your friend 'pops out' from the background how much processing did you do, and would you care to share??????

Thanks everyone for the comments on my Brooklyn photo, much appreciated!

I saw someone post about meet ups, is there a section on this forum where we can see if anyone in out area is doing group shooting events? Like I know there was a photo walk a month or two ago in Jersey City.....

Also someone posted moving objects, here is my take.
