Great buy!
Reminds me of the first AF lenses for FD mount funnily enough. I think they had a 35-70 AF zoom which came with the T-80??? Had a funny bump on the side presumably for the AF motor.

It's a relic, and the image quality is fairly atrocious, but that doesn't stop me from loving it ![]() ![]() Will I ever end up using it? Now that's a good question... Surprisingly, it zooms in and out relatively fast. AF is also faster than I expected. The motor continues to run as you attempt to zoom below the 35mm mark ![]() Sorry to revive an old thread. I just bought one of these for $36 just for fun. I can't stand not having hoods on my lenses so I added a ES-62 from the 50mm 1.8 II. Mine zooms normally and the motor does cut out when you reach the stop at 35mm or 80mm. Looks like you received yours in fine shape--got it at a good price too. Most of the ones I've seen for sale on ebay were pretty well beat-up.

More info | Mar 16, 2015 06:24 | #67 Just to go back to some of the comments on the origin of power zoom. It predates both this and even video. All of the electrically powered cine cameras that I have used have had a power zoom option. I started out with a Eumig Standard 8 cine camera, which must have dated from the very early 1970's, it had both AF and power zoom, although you could manually drive both. I then moved to a Eumig Super 8 (I think it was called the Mini 5, it was certainly very compact). Given the technology of the day the systems worked very well. With the power zoom it was actually quite slow, but was just right if you did want to do a zoom shot. Not something you should be doing too much of though. My Flickr

If nothing else, it makes a pretty fantastic paperweight, decoration, and/or conversation starter. I did a few test shots at f/8 and was it was sharper than I expected.
