A480: I can see seven options, but I can only select two

I've just bought a PowerShot A480. I'm working my way through the User Guide.

When I press the [Func Set] button, I can see the 7 options at the left for Continuous Shooting, Brightness, AWB, etc.

The lowest option is Image Size (default = "L"). When I press Up button, I move to Compression Ration. When I press it again, I move back down to Image Size, and so on.

So, all that happens is that I alternate between Image Size and Comression Ratio.

(Pressing the Down button continuously has the same effect: only two options.)

I cannot select any of the other five options.

Am I doing something wrong?

You are probably in 'Auto' mode, in which most options are not configurable.
Try switching to 'Program' mode and see if the options in menu are available.
