Just a few snaps from a group outing last weekend at the Los Angeles Zoo. Of all the times I've been there, I've never seen the animals this quiet as a group before.

Anyway, a few shots. Here is a jaguar during it's morning pacing in the cage. The chain link fence causes some softness/blurring but you add a little contrast in post processing to compensate. Flash induced some Green eyes.
Nothing special though.

The bear was way up on top of it's exhibit and backlight so there is some flare/harshness to overcome as well.

Lastly, one of the gorillas munching away on some greens and giving me the eye.

Man I miss having more than 400mm reach at the zoo, when I had the sigma 50-500mm on the 30D, I had about 800mm equivalent field of view and am finding 400mm on a full frame barely adequate, if that.

Thanks, it was hot that day and she was trying to hang out under a wall and get some shade while eating. The rest were all hiding out from the sun. So I got lucky.

that blurriness detracts a little for me. The gorilla looks like it could be on a card...I really like this one.
