I believe you pay the extra money for the great IS and versatility. I personally don't care what people think when they see me with my gear.

Honestly, I guess the main thing keeping me interested in the 70-200 is the amount of different uses it has and while carrying 3 lightweight primes sounds like a good idea, the hassle of changing the lenses during certain situations seems like a turn off for me.

But I don't know man.. the 135 sure is a beautiful lens. I'll just go back to lurking this thread for a while and go from them lol.

.

It is a pretty big deal if you are shooting street photography and candid shots. But like I said it all comes down to what you need to do and what you want. If you want a single walkaround lens during vacation or whatever the 70-200 might be better for you. IS is nice and all but you dont really need it with the 135 especially if you are on a full frame body.

That is another thing if you are on a crop I would recommend the 70-200 more because 135 becomes a 200mm lens on a crop and handholding on that focal lenght is not easy (though certainly possible) On a full frame 135 is just perfect.

There's definitely a place for both lenses. I like the idea of a lightweight prime and hate the color of the zoom, but I also covet the versatility of the 70-200 focal range. I don't use the 135 very often, but it really is a magical lens.

I may just end up renting the 135 and see what it does for me.
