These were taken at a falconry presentation I was at over the weekend at a renaissance faire. The presenter is a professional raptor rehabilitator: these are all birds that have been with her for a while, and are comfortable with her and with crowds. The smaller birds, of course, pretty much never stopped moving, and I screwed up my camera settings so it was trying to overexpose them.... I didn't get many acceptable pictures of the Kestrel or Merlin, sadly. I figured out what I'd done by the time the Red Tail came out, though...

3) Merlin. Although it's not as sharp as some of the others, I love the pattern her wings made against the tree.

4) Red Tail Hawk. It was being obnoxious, and she had to give it a stern talking too...

5) Barred Owl. It turns out owls like having their heads scratched... who knew?

6) Golden Eagle. This is probably my favorite shot from the whole faire. The eagle has been with her for over 20 years -- it had been shot, and lost part of its right wing.

7) Golden Eagle. This photo is for scale...

The eagle closed its eyes and started trying to preen her hair.
Those are high on my desire list for catching some in-flights of.
